HAVE YOU PICKED YOUR CONCENTRATION YET?

We have a selection of concentrations to help you succeed in your professional goals. There are some unique differences between each concentration, including which classes you will take.

ADVERTISING

The field of public relations is centered on building trust and credibility — but awareness is an important part of the process. In Advertising, students learn how to maximize paid placement through courses such as Paid Digital Media, Principles of Advertising and Advanced Digital Advertising Management.

We want each of our students to be ready to jump into the industry with relevant experience. Here you will find the relevant information on the order in which classes to take as well as the internship submission forms.

One of the most important indicators of a graduate's success post-college has to do with their experiences with internships. Learn more about our internship program here!

SEQUENCING

We crafted a special three-semester sequence to optimize your experience. Starting from PREL 267 (Media Career Readiness) which should be taken in the first year, you will gain the skills to be a professional, and gain confidence in your craft.

INTERNSHIP APPROVAL

We want you to have a quality internship experience. This means having an organization who is relevant to your career goals, a department or individual who has at least 5 years of public relations related experience, and direct mentorship, among other things. Please submit this form to get your internship approved!

INTERNSHIP SUPERVISOR VERIFICATION

After you get your internship approved by the faculty teaching the course, please use this form to get your internship supervisor to verify the internship parameters, work, etc.

INTERNSHIP SUPERVISOR EVALUATION

Twice during your internship experience, you are required to get written evaluations (mid-semester and end-of-the-semester). Here is the form that you can provide your supervisor.
